In spiritual belief systems an Atlantean Soul is thought to be the soul of a person who had lived during the mythical time of the civilization of Atlantis. They bring with them through their incarnation a profound understanding of sacred knowledge, star seed wisdom and the values and spiritual gifts from that era. These individuals are often characterized by specific patterns, such as survivors’ guilt if they lived through the city’s fall, leading to people-pleasing and an excessive tendency to over-give, or powerlessness if they experienced the destruction firsthand, often causing them to remain in toxic situations out of fear of abandonment. Characteristics and Beliefs

There are two types of “Atlantean souls” based on our popular New Age beliefs that some people today are reincarnated from the mythical lost continent of Atlantis. According to this spiritual concept, the two types of souls are distinguished by their experiences during the cataclysmic end of Atlantis: survivors and victims.

Survivor Souls

These Atlantean souls are said to have escaped the destruction of Atlantis. In their present lifetime they carry the density of “survivor’s guilt,” which can manifest as a compulsion to overdo things and to people-please. They may feel an overwhelming need to help others and prevent abandonment without realizing the deep seated patterns that are used as a coping mechanisms. Victim Souls

These souls are believed to have perished in the catastrophe that destroyed Atlantis. In their current lives, they are said to experience:

Feelings of powerlessness. They may repeat destructive patterns and feel they cannot change their circumstances. They can carry these imprints with them from previous incarnations and their karma may trigger situations into their lives in order to finally release them and purify their souls. A fear of abandonment. This fear may cause them to stay in toxic or unhealthy situations for too long, leading to a loss of their own identity.

Other Classifications

Within occult and spiritual traditions, other systems of classification have been proposed:

Group souls: Theosophist Rudolf Steiner lectured on Atlanteans as having “group souls” before egos entered their bodies, differentiating them from modern-day humans who each have a separate, individual ego. He also associated different Atlantean soul groups with the qualities of the bull, lion, eagle, and man.

Alien species: In some fictional settings, such as the Crux universe, Atlantean souls are described as specializing in one of five disciplines: Mind, Body, Soul, Passion, and Empathy.
